Happy Tuesday! It's a great day today.... WHY? It's my birthday! So far so good. My girls sang me happy birthday as I drove them to school. Almost made me shed a tear.... And later tonight, after we put the girls to bed (my mom will be home) he's going to take me out to dinner.
And that brings me to todays tip... Eating Out! I have a few tips on how you can be Green while eating out.
- Bring your own utensils
- Bring your own straw
- Enjoy a raw salad
- Split the meal
- Make it romantic
I know it may be a little embarassing to bring your own utensils and straws, but it will save them on not having to wash them. I know some restaurants will still be required to wash them, even if they weren't used. So be sure you let your hostess know to remove them, because you got your own. I have yet to get some, but I have been dying to get our family some glass straws! I just think they look so cool! Check out Reuseit.com and you can get $5 off your order. Just enter the code "rcndsuq" at check out! I ordered a set of produce bags when I first ordered from there. I know people, including my sister who never really eat a salad. But a salad takes no electricity to put together. And most upscale restaurants may get their fruits and veggies locally, so that's just an added plus. Even though most restaurants won't allow splitting a meal, it will require half the electricity to prepare one meal, than it would with two.
And of course, use a coupon to help save you some money. I love checking The Krazy Coupon Lady before we go out. Make it Romantic by walking to your next destination. Usually, the restaurants are near other businesses, like the movies or a specialty shop. So instead of driving over, you can just take a nice stroll.
I remember when my hubby and I first got married, we walked everywhere until we saved enough money to buy a car. Even then, hubby still walked to work and we still walked down the street to the movies. I can't wait till we are able to do that again. Walking won't do your mid-section bad either. Walking spontaneously is part of my fitness routine. Linking up today with Rebecca from A Humble Bumble and her weekly post, Healthy Tuesday! There are some great posts, go check them out!

I have to admit, I have never thought of some of these ideas! I do like the idea of glass straws but wonder how difficult it would be to wash them?? My kids are beyond picky about everything being very clean so I would have to find a way to make them acceptable to them.

I have yet to buy a set. But when I do I'll review them! There are so many companies. I know that strawsome occasionally runs giveaways/contests on their facebook page!
